Data Controller details:
Αthena-Research and Innovation Center in Information, Communication and Knowledge Technologies -Athena RC (“MCN creators”, “we” or “us”) is the Data Controller of end-users’ personal data. For any information related to this privacy statement, the end-users are invited to follow the instructions provided here to contact us.
Purpose and legal basis of processing the personal data:
MCN collects personal information for providing the end-user with a customized service requested. The legal basis for personal data processing is Art. 6(1)(b) of GDPR – processing for pre-contractual and contractual purposes. MCN may further process anonymous information for statistical and research/scientific purposes. Regarding the latter, creators of MCN can make publicly available statistics and anonymous results at a level of a region or a country for scientific purposes. MCN will never disclose information (location, name, email, results etc.) about a particular request that may make the person or their location identifiable.
Information MCN collects:
a. Log file information, including the IP addresses of last access.
b. Personal data: Any personal data relating to the end-user gathered by the MCN in the registration process or during the use of the service will be recorded and only be used in accordance with this statement. If the end-user wishes to explore the tool as an authenticated user, MCN gathers the following personal data that is necessary for the purposes of authentication: username, first name, last name, email address, country; this information is collected from third parties according to the following section.
In case where the end-user wishes to explore MCN as a guest, no personal data is being processed, except for logs that end-up in the server that include information about the request.
Information collected from third parties:
If the end-users wish to explore the tool as authenticated users, MCN receives information about them from third parties. More specifically, the end-users are invited to login to MCN via Google Login service for entering MCN as authenticated users.
Recipients of end-users’ personal data:
MCN creators will not transfer end-user’s personal data to any third parties unless they have the end-user’s consent to do so or it is otherwise requested by judicial authorities under the legislation. MCN creators will not use the information provided to sell the end-user anything or to ask for money. MCN creators confirm that access to personal data is restricted to those personnel to whom it is necessary for the performance of their role. All staff who are authorized to access personal data are under an obligation to comply with this policy and any other relevant guidelines or legislation.
How MCN uses cookies:
Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored by a browser on a computer’s hard drive, mobile phone or any other device used to access the internet. MCN uses only cookies that are absolutely necessary for the operation of the website.

Pursuant to the current legal framework on the protection of personal data, the end-users have the following rights in relation to the personal data processed by MCN creators:
- The right to access, correct or update their personal data at any time.
- The right to object the use of their personal data.
- The right to restrict the use of their personal data.
- The right to withdraw the consent at any time without any detriment. Such right produces effects only for the future.
- The end-users are entitled to ask the erasure of their personal data.
- The end-users have the right to data portability, according to which they can ask to receive their personal data so that they can transfer them to another organization.
- In case where the end-users are dissatisfied with how MCN creators process their personal data, they are entitled to submit a complaint before the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (DPA) (www.dpa.gr).
